The shrub rose is a large and diverse group of roses. What links them is that they all grow into bushy spreading ‘shrub’ plants and are neither Hybrid Teas’or Floribundas. They are the product of crossing varying ‘species’ roses with the ‘modern bush’ roses.

The typical shrub rose is taller and larger than a bedding rose and has thorny stems often with large leaves and single to double flowers. They may bloom only once or repeat flower depending on the variety choosen. Their beauty comes from their spreading massed ‘shrub like’ appearance.

The Shrub Roses have a willingness to grow in a variety of climates with a minimum of attention from the gardener and will thrive in soil and conditions that would not suit a Hybrid Tea. Pruning~(very little) and upkeep are minimal.
