The Climbing and Rambling roses can be made to climb, if tied to a support, trellis, arch or pergola etc.

The two groups are often confused but the simplest answer, although there are exceptions is that the Rambling Rose flowers only once with great impact in the Summer, usually June, whereas the climbers repeat flower throughout the Summer and Autumn. Ramblers tend to have long pliable stems which bear large trusses of small flowers in one Summer hit whilst the Climbers have stiffer stems, stouter growth and bear larger blooms that repeat flower.
